The Implement - The Human Factor
Ergonomics is simply defined as the study of people's efficiency in their working environment. The sum of people’s actions, the Human Factor efficiency is what we measure in implementation processes with monitoring matrices. It is safe to attribute socio-economic challenges South Africa faces today to some decisions people made at some point in time. It is people again that intervene to alleviate human suffering and enable human progress. What separates actions that result in human suffering from those that result in human progress are the values driving people involved in the implementation.
John William Gardener - “Some people have greatness thrust upon them. Few have excellence thrust upon them…they achieve it. They do not achieve it unwittingly by doing what comes naturally and they don’t stumble into it in the course of amusing themselves. All excellence involves discipline and tenacity of purpose”
People who live a life of purpose have core beliefs and values that influence their decisions, shape their day-to-day actions, and determine their short- and long-term priorities. They place significant value on their actions positive impacting. Designer Yves Behar "Ergonomics is about design that treats the body well." The word appeared in 1950, when the study of efficiency in the workplace became a science1
The Implement platform will seek to anchor the Human Factor in successes and failures in the policy and government programs machinery. The physical and psychological capacity available in a particular environment aligning objectives, tools, skills and inherent values of individuals in the implementation task is the embodiment of The Implement. The platform will develop models for post-graduate studies into the Human Factor in implementation processes.
There are also many private citizens who live a life of purpose making a meaningful difference in society. They do things for others without expectation of personal gain, serve as exemplary role models, and gain as much satisfaction witnessing the success of others as witnessing their own. These people do not need government regulations or incentives to contribute to human progress. They are self-propelled in achieving great progress for humankind. These are bottom-up examples of The Implement, studies will help us distill characteristics and values that may be codifies for leadership positions.
